Finding the source of your bad breath is your best front line of defense. There are some common and easy to solve sources of bad breath.

Correctible causes of bad breath:

  • Not drinking enough water. If your lips feel dry and you aren’t urinating frequently you may be dehydrated.
  • Starvation. If you’re on a diet that may be the cause of your bad breath. Trying going back to your normal eating habits and see if that helps.
  • Imbalanced diet. You should have a healthy ratio of carbohydrates to protein your diet. Too much protein and to much sugar and flour is unhealthy and may affect your breath.
  • Brush your teeth. Good oral hygiene is key. You should brush, floss use mouthwash and brush or scrape your tongue as well. Do this at least twice a day if not more frequently.
  • Be careful what foods you eat. Some foods just plain cause bad breath. Watch out for onions, garlic, coffee, dairy and alcohol.
  • Is it the medicine? If you think a prescription might be causing the problem speak to your doctor.
